Agilent Technologies Inc. introduces a network headspace sampler that features an inert sample pathway and significant improvements in sensitivity, performance and productivity. Agilent's newest sample introduction system integrates seamlessly with Agilent's gas chromatographs (GCs) and ChemStation software to provide a fully integrated GC system, from sampling to data analysis. Headspace sampling is an attractive sample introduction method because it does not require sample preparation, an often time-consuming and difficult process. This method allows researchers to introduce volatile compounds from any sample matrix directly into a GC or gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) system. The Agilent G1888 network headspace sampler's deactivated sample pathway, from sampling needle to transfer line, greatly reduces analyte degradation or loss to enable accurate, reliable analyses of problematic compounds such as drugs. With an increased temperature range, it can handle analysis of semivolatiles at temperatures up to 230 C. The sampler's new multi-headspace-extraction concentration mode, in conjunction with cryo-focusing, significantly improves system sensitivity.
